- Appropriate attire must be worn during every class. Students should wear pink dance tights (no panty hose, decorative tights, or leggings), and black leotard only. Students are not allowed to wear pants, shorts, and/or shirts of any kind over dance clothes while in class.
- Appropriate dance shoes must be worn during every class. If you do not have the appropriate shoes, you are allowed to sit and watch the class, but not participate.
- Hair must be pulled up and secured away from the face. A bun is preferred for ballet class.
- Dance shoes are never to be worn outside of the dance room.
- Street shoes are never to be worn on the dance floor.
- There is no jewelry, gum, food, and/or drinks allowed in the dance room. This includes permanent jewelry. The exception is a water bottle that seals for any dancer taking multiple classes that are connected.
- Students are not allowed to enter the dance room more than ten minutes after the class has started.
- There are no dressing rooms or public restrooms. Dancers have a restroom to use, but are encouraged to use before and/or after class.
- Dancers 10 and under are not allowed to be left in the lobby unsupervised between classes. Dancers over 10 may stay in the purple studio between classes, but Studio C cannot be responsible for the supervision of any dancer left unattended by a parent unless they are in a dance class.
- Students are allowed to bring one bag into class with them. All bags must be stored under the benches during class.
- Each student is allowed ten absences per dance season. After ten absences, your dancer will not be allowed to perform in the recital, but will be allowed to attend the class for the remainder of the year. Attendance is important as the performance in the show is a group activity not an individual one.
- Dancers must be picked up on time. When the leave the dance room and enter the lobby, they should see your face unless they have been instructed to walk to your car, which is unadvisable for the younger dancers. The safest way to pick up your dancer is to come into the lobby so they can see you when they leave class.
- Tuition is due on the first dance day of each month beginning in August and ending in May. There are ten sessions. A late fee of $15 will be added to any tuition amount paid after the tenth of each month.
- If a student quits class for any reason during the year, they will not be allowed to return until the following dance season.
- If school gets canceled, lets out early, or after school activities are canceled due to inclement weather, then dance classes will be canceled for that day also. All classes canceled due to situations beyond my control will not be made up. I always follow Calhoun County Schools when making cancellation decisions due to weather. Safety in severe weather conditions is a priority. If classes are canceled due to weather, there will be an email sent out no later than 2pm.
- If I have to cancel any class for other reasons, there will be a make up scheduled. Because this make up will not be the same day and time, attendance will not be taken for the make up classes.
- A five year award and a ten year award will be given for consecutive years at our studio. These awards will be given at the end of the spring recital each year.
- An attendance award will be given to dancers in each class who have had no more than four absences for the year. Excessive tardies will keep you from getting the attendance award. Class roll will be taken in every class and tardiness will also be recorded.
- If a student misses a class the week before the recital or the dress rehearsal, they will not be allowed to perform in the recital.
- If a student has a balance on their dance account, they will not be allowed to participate in show week or the recital.
- If you need Mrs. Chapman for any reason, please contact her through email at [email protected]. Time should never be taken away from any class due to discussions that should take place via email.
- I expect every student and parent to be respectful of this art, the dance studio, each other, and the teacher.
- Dancers can be dismissed for not adhering to the policies and procedures listed above.
